Franklin County Offers New Service for the Public! Beginning the week of June 8, 2009, businesses and residents will be able to go online to find information on permits, inspections, and plan submittals, and manage inspection services through a toll-free number. View Press Release.
On May 19, 2009, the Board of Supervisors adopted revisions to Chapter 7 of the Franklin County Code-Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance. These revisions provide increased focus on those sites deemed critical (proximity to watercourse and steep slopes) but also lessen the focus on sites that are not deemed critical. The revisions also codify an alternative inspection program requiring plan review and a site visit by Erosion and Sediment Control Inspectors prior to issuance of Land Disturbance Permits. Additionally, the ordinance states who may prepare such plans.

TRAFFIC ALERT: On Tuesday, April 14, the exit ramp leading from northbound Route 220 onto northbound Route 220 Business in Franklin County will be closed. This ramp is located just south of Rocky Mount in the Doe Run area. Signs and message board will be in place on Route 220 to advise motorists of these lane closures. For updated information on Route 220 lane closures, dial 511 or visit the Web site at www.511Virginia.org.
