Pursuant to the Franklin County Code the Franklin County Board of Supervisors hereby gives notice of a public hearing to be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 6:00pm in the Franklin County Board of Supervisors Meeting Room located in the Franklin County Government Center, 1255 Franklin Street, Rocky Mount, VA  24151 to which all interested parties are invited in reference to the following requests:

  1. APPLICATION for SPECIAL USE PERMIT – Application of Edward Cabell Gardner, Applicant, and ECG, LLC, Owners, requesting a Special Use Permit with possible conditions to allow a RV campground, private, for four (4) camping sites, on two parcels totaling approximately 24 acres currently zoned A-1, Agricultural, located at 795 Timber Ridge Road in the Union Hall District of Franklin County, and further identified by Franklin County Real Estate Records as Tax Map/Parcel #s 0650003001and 0650003002. RV Campgrounds and tourist and resort facilities are allowed by special use permit in A-1 zoning districts at a maximum density of 10 units per acre. The property has a future land use designation in the 2007 Comprehensive Plan of Agriculture Forestry/Rural Residential.
  1. PETITION of the FRANKLIN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION to amend Chapter 25, Zoning, of the Franklin County Code, by adding Sec. 25-620 Public Notice Signs, amending Sec. 25-639 Application, deleting Sec. 25-741 Posting of Property- Public Hearings, deleting Sec. 25-742 Same –Planning Commission Hearing, deleting Sec. 25-743 Same – Board of Supervisors Hearing and deleting Sec. 25-744 Maintenance and Removal of Signs. The purpose of these amendments is to establish new standards for the design, placement and display of public notice signs that will advertise proposed public hearings for special use permits, zoning map amendments and variances and any zoning action requiring a public hearing. The responsibility for installing and maintaining the public notice signs will transfer from the applicant to the county and the guidelines for their placement on the property proposed for public hearing have been simplified. The proposed amendments to these regulations do not modify the requirement that the signs be displayed for fourteen (14) days prior to the scheduled public hearing.
