- David Cundiff, Union Hall District, Board of Supervisors and P. D. Hambrick, Union Hall District, School Board Representative have announced a community meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, 2010. The meeting will be held at Glade Hill Elementary School. They will discuss the upcoming FY 2010-2011 county budget. The public is invited to attend.
- All County residents are hereby notified of the cancellation of the previously advertised Board of Supervisor's meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.

- County partners with Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital and receives $100,000 grant in securing Automated External Defibrillators (AED). View complete press release.
- Franklin County to receive grant award of $451,476 from the Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission to assist with the completion of the lower level of The Franklin Center, the County's Higher Education, Workforce and Career Center. View complete press release.
- In an effort to operate more strategically, the Franklin County Board of Supervisors adopted its second Strategic Plan on February 17, 2009. As part of the plan, they developed vision statements depicting their desired future state for Franklin County. Goal number eight of the Strategic Plan is to: “develop ongoing mechanisms to measure, assess, and analyze community needs and develop indicators to determine progress and identify gaps in services for families and individuals”. One of the strategies being utilized to accomplish goal number eight of the Strategic Plan is to receive input from the citizens of Franklin County to assess their current satisfaction with services currently available in the community and identify emerging needs. The Franklin County Board of Supervisors and staff are inviting the citizens of Franklin County to provide county officials with their opinions through their participation in a community needs assessment survey at the link below. Information gathered from survey participants will be utilized to begin the process of developing ongoing mechanisms to measure, assess, and analyze community needs and develop indicators to determine progress. - After two years of planning, citizen survey and input, and staff evaluation, the Draft Franklin County Parks & Recreation Master Plan is now available for download and comments by citizens. Public hearings for review of this document will be scheduled for the fall months.
