Stipend Reimbursement for
Completing Class

PURPOSE
To provide an
incentive for volunteer personnel to actively seek and obtain
minimum
EMS and
Fire training and to provide a modest reimbursement for expenses
associated
with the
same.
GUIDELINE
(1)
At request, the Public Safety Department will provide a remuneration to
any member of a volunteer agency affiliated with the Franklin County
Department of Public Safety who obtains certification in the Virginia
Emergency Medical Technician ‑ Basic course and/or the Virginia
Department of Fire Programs Fire Fighter I course after July 1,
2000.
(2)
Eligibility for the remuneration includes:
A.
Current, active membership in a volunteer agency operating under the
auspices of the Franklin County Department of Public Safety;
B.
Documentation of successful completion of the designated course.
(3)
The amount of the remuneration will be established at one‑hundred‑fifty
dollars ($150.00) per course completion.
(4)
To receive the remuneration, a volunteer must provide a request, in
writing to the Public Safety Director, stating they desire to receive
the funding and provide a copy of certification for the particular
training. They must also state that they are willing to serve the
county for a period of two years.
(5)
Funds will be provided during the County accounts payable cycle
following receipt of documentation.
