TOPICS OF DISCUSSION: Please find below a summary of the topics that were discussed and relevant information regarding these topics. If you have any questions, please contact your Rescue Captain or Fire Chief for details.

  • The meeting was moderated by Public Safety Director, Daryl Hatcher. Mr. Hatcher opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and thanking them for their attendance.

  • The minutes from the October 4, 2006 meeting were approved.

  • Billy Ferguson, Operations Chief, updated everyone on the Revenue Recovery Program and the 1st revenue recovery payout checks were issued. Billy advised that everyone is doing pretty good on the paperwork just make sure that on all paperwork that is submitted you have the following:

  • Demographic sheets from the hospital;
  • Authorization signed by the patient or explanation of why patient could not sign;
  • Loaded mileage listed.

  • Billy Ferguson advised that the County, at one time, had billed for false fire alarms but the billing process had stopped. Billy indicated that the County was revisiting the idea of billing for false alarms. He will provide any additional information on this as it becomes available. Any questions regarding this topic should be directed to Billy Ferguson.

  • Billy Ferguson advised everyone that at no time should a volunteer member contact a tow truck or ask dispatch to call a tow truck to a motor vehicle accident. The law enforcement agency dealing with the particular situation has control over contacting the necessary towing facility. Any questions regarding this topic should be directed to Billy Ferguson.

  • Billy Ferguson advised that the administrative office has set up a web site and that any volunteer fire or rescue agency that would like could set up a link from this site to an individual department site at no fee to the department. Contact Billy to get your department set up.

  • Billy advised that Public Safety would be upgrading their Firehouse software in the coming weeks. The new software will be a web based program. To connect to the wireless system that the County is installing the Information Technology (IT) Department has set the requirement that they own any and all computers using this technology. To most departments this will be to their advantage because the IT department in exchange for ownership assumes responsibility for maintenance and replacement of your department’s computer. Billy has all the particulars about how to opt into this program.

  • Mike Pruitt, Training and Retention/Recruitment Coordinator, presented the following information:

  • He has set up some leadership classes in conjunction with Patrick Henry Community College for anyone interested in taking the class. A copy of the schedule is attached.
  • He distributed the SOG for EMS Provider Skills Evaluations.
  • He also distributed the SOG regarding EMS Recertification Exam Waiver.
  • He talked about EMS rollout and directed any department having individuals who needed this training to contact him.
  • He indicated that WVEMS is doing a drug box exchange program and that the on duty Captain would be brining the new drug boxes to the departments and exchanging them out.

Any questions regarding any of this information should be directed to Mike.

  • Daryl Hatcher went over the Strategic Plan and asked for input. A copy is attached.

Questions and Comments were called for.

The meeting was adjourned.
