TOPICS OF DISCUSSION: Please find below a summary of the topics
that were discussed and relevant information regarding these
topics. If you have any questions, please contact your Rescue
Captain or Fire Chief for details.
- The meeting was moderated by Public Safety Director, Daryl Hatcher. Mr. Hatcher opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and thanking them for their attendance.
- Operations Chief Billy Ferguson presented the following items:
With the beginning of the new fiscal year and the EMS revenue
recovery project, the administrative offices will now be purchasing and
maintaining specific EMS supplies which will be given to EMS
agencies. A supply requisition form was given to all EMS agencies
in attendance. If an agency needs supplies which are on the list,
simply fax the requisition form to the administrative office at
483-3086 and the requested supplies will be delivered to your station
at no charge to your department. If your department needs supplies
which are NOT listed on the requisition, contact Billy and he will
order the desired equipment which will be charged to your operational
budget.
Franklin County Public Safety’s website is up and running. It
is full of information from SOGs to forms to information about
individual agencies. The address is http://www.franklincountyva.org/pub_safety/index.htm
. If your department has information to be added to the site,
contact Billy.
The importance of wearing the appropriate safety gear while on
scenes was discussed. For more information or questions concerning
this issue, contact Billy.
Billy advised that EMS Revenue Recovery had begun and things were
going well so far. He reminded everyone to make sure to pick up a
demographic sheet on each patient from the receiving
hospital. Billy also reminded everyone that billable mileage is
loaded miles. If anyone has any questions regarding the billing
process, please contact Billy.
Roll outs of the Western Virginia EMS protocol are scheduled
throughout the region. It is mandatory that all providers attend a
rollout to maintain their certification. Questions concerning the
new protocols can be directed to Billy or Mike Pruitt.
Effective immediately, ALS providers will be available 24 hours a
day. Captain Patrick Meeks, Captain Justin Hines and a third
captain to be named at a later date will rotate 24 hour shifts.
