TOPICS OF DISCUSSION: Please find below a summary of the topics that were discussed and relevant information regarding those topics. If you have any questions, please contact your Rescue Captain or Fire Chief for details.

  • The meeting was moderated by Public Safety Director, Daryl Hatcher. Mr. Hatcher opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and thanking them for their attendance.

  • The minutes were approved as distributed.

  • Mr. Hatcher advised that the Franklin County Board of Supervisors had voted to provide 100% of the purchase price for new emergency services apparatus. The vehicles will be bid on a 3 – 5 year contract. The chiefs and captains will be meeting over the next few months to determine a rotation of which department gets a truck and developing the specifications for the trucks. For more information, contact Mr. Hatcher.

  • Billy Ferguson advised that the new high band radio frequencies were activated over the Labor Day weekend and that initial testing had begun. He advised that if you were out and about and had your radio with you to try it different places in your jurisdiction to check for coverage. He also advised that if any department needs training on the operation of the new radios to contact him and he would set up a time for someone to come to your building and train your members.

  • Billy Ferguson indicated that he was updating the Standard Operating Guidelines for the department. He will send each department a copy of the new SOGs once they have been updated and approved for distribution.

  • Mr. Hatcher reminded everyone that the NIMS deadline is approaching and all members need to take ICS 100 and 700 and each officer needs these two classes and an additional ICS 200. If you have any questions regarding NIMS compliance, contact Mike Pruitt.

  • Billy Ferguson advised everyone the career staff are color-coding all the fire hydrants in the county to NFPA standards. He invited anyone who would like to schedule a time to come by the office and go out with a member of staff and test the hydrant. Contact Billy for more information on the hydrant testing and color-coding.

Questions and comments and questions were called for.
