- The meeting was moderated by Chief of Operations, Billy Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and thanking them for their attendance.
- Kevin Nunn, a member of Fork Mountain Rescue Squad, gave a presentation on Recruitment and Retention ideas. To get more information regarding this topic, contact Kevin at 540-297-8269.
- Billy Ferguson presented the following information:
o The Public Safety website is being updated and should be back up by the end of July or the 1st of August. Don’t forget each department can provide information to be added to the website.
o Part-time positions have been filled and should start to work around the end of July. The new hires will complete a preceptor period prior to being assigned shifts.
o The next meeting will be September 25, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the Franklin Center.
o Reminder that any volunteer over the age of 70 needs to have a letter from their physician on file that their health permits volunteer fire/rescue activity.
o A copy of Standard Operating Guidelines on CD was given to each representative in attendance. If you have questions or clarifications, contact Billy or Daryl Hatcher.
- Mike Pruitt asked that each department appoint a QA officer, preferably not the captain, to represent each agency. Contact Mike with questions and to submit your officer’s name.
A Building Committee which will meet with Daryl Hatcher to discuss building projects and concern was selected as follows:
