Foster Care Family
Foster parents must be 21 years of age, self supporting, and able to parent a child not their own.
Training is required of all foster/resource/adoptive parents.
Currently a program of eight hours of preservice training must be completed before the agency will accept an application. These trainings run quarterly. An inservice training of Infant CPR/Car Seat Safety must be completed before children will be placed in your home.
The Foster Care Family Resource Specialist continues to provide additional training to individual foster families as needed during the entire time they serve. Trainings may be individual sessions with the trainer, referral to outside trainer or programs, or referral to VISTA.
