Twice a Year Billing - New for 2022

Beginning with the calendar year 2022, Franklin County will bill real estate tax twice a year.  This means that the annual tax bill that you are accustomed to paying in December will be divided into two installment payments.   To be prepared for this change, please review the questions below.

  • When will payments be due?
    Generally, your first payment will be due June 5th and your second payment on December 5th.   These due dates will vary when June 5th or December 5th falls on a weekend or a holiday.
  • When will I receive a bill?
    Franklin County will mail you a tax bill at least 30 days prior to each due date.
  • May you pay the full year’s tax when making your June payment?
    Yes

  • Will a late payment penalty and interest be charged on the amount that is due in June if you do not make the June payment?
    Yes

  • May you wait and pay the full year’s tax when making your December payment?
    Yes, BUT you will be charged a late payment penalty and interest on the amount of tax that was due in June.

  • May you make prepayments on your account during the year?
    Yes, you may make a payment or series of prepayments anytime and for any amount during the year to reduce the amount you will owe in June and December.  Just put your account number in the memo section of your check and indicate that it is a prepayment.

  • When do I pay my Personal Property taxes?
    Personal Property taxes will continue to be billed only once a year and be due on December 5th unless the 5th falls on a weekend or holiday.

  • Will payment methods change?
    Acceptable methods of payment will NOT change.

    • Cardholders:   
      Credit/Debit Cards are accepted in the office, or by phone at (1-888-272-9829), or online at https://ww.franklinvatax.com.  We accept Visa, Master Card, and Discover. Appropriate fees will apply.  Enter the information requested when prompted by phone.  The JURISDICTION CODE is 1033. To pay online you will need to enter https://ww.franklinvatax.com and click on “Search & Pay Taxes.” Appropriate fees will apply.

      Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM

Franklin County Residents will receive a notice via U.S. Mail, the week of March 14, 2022. (see below) 2022 Real Estate Update Notice

  • Last Day to Enroll New Parcels in Land Use - November 1
  • Last Day to Revalidate Land Use (with 10% late penalty) - December 31
  • Last Day to Revalidate Land Use (without late penalty) - November 1
