Now through September, U.S. Census representatives will be at the Franklin County Public Library to answer questions and provide guidance on completing the 2020 Census online. Representatives will be at the library’s Rocky Mount location every Tuesday, 11A-5P and its Westlake branch every Thursday, 12P-4P. They will have tablets for individuals to fill out the Census securely and privately. In addition, the Rocky Mount library has a private, dedicated computer for completing the Census online. Drop by to use the computer during regular hours: Tuesday and Wednesday, 9A-5P; Thursday, 10A-6P. Have a say in how $1 trillion in federal funding is distributed over the next decade for critical Franklin County services, including schools, roads, Medicare/Medicaid, unemployment insurance, veterans’ programs, agricultural programs, and the library, among many other vital county programs. Your responses will also determine redistricting in the Commonwealth and the number of seats Virginia has in the U.S. House of Representatives. The deadline for completing the Census is September 30.
