Odell Gray - Ferrum Fire Department
Odell has lived in Franklin County the majority of his life. He graduated from Franklin County High School in 1985. He attended VCU and Ferrum College, eventually graduating from Ferrum. After college, Odell worked in law enforcement the majority of his career. He started as a deputy sheriff in Henrico County and then moved back to Franklin County working with Franklin County Probation and Parole. Odell’s last position was a Child Protective Services investigator with Franklin County Social Services. He grew up in Hardy and now lives in Ferrum. He has two children, Will, who is 12, and Abby, who is 10.
Odell says, “As the son of a social worker, I was taught to always help people anyway I could and to give back to the community. I started volunteering in 1984 while still in high school with Hardy Rescue Squad. When I worked with Henrico County, I volunteered with Ladysmith Fire Department in Caroline County. After moving to Ferrum in 2006, I joined Ferrum Volunteer Fire Department.”
Odell enjoys fishing, hunting, camping and doing anything and everything with his kids.
