Savannah Farris - Callaway Volunteer Rescue Squad
Savannah grew up in Callaway and always knew that she wanted to make a difference in her rural community. She joined Callaway Volunteer Rescue Squad in 2019 during her sophomore year of college. Savannah says, “As a kid, I always wanted to become a doctor and save lives. I have been given the opportunity to pursue that dream as a pre-med student. I joined the squad to help my community, make a positive impact on as many people as possible, and to gain a better understanding of pre-hospital care. In order to best treat my patients in the future, I felt it was important to understand how things work before patients arrive in the ED. Being in EMS has allowed me to do many things; I was able to work with and meet some of my favorite people. Becoming an EMT helped me decide that I want to work in the ED or orthopedics. It also allowed me to gain experience and find my future specialty. Emergency medicine has allowed me to face challenges, work with a variety of people, and make an impact on lives. In what little free time I have, you can find me kayaking, fishing or enjoying the outdoors.”
